Job Summary
JBC Associates is seeking a Construction Quality Assurance Coordinator for a new construction management project based in Princeton, NJ. This individual will provide support and oversight of the contractors implementing our client’s Quality Management Plan (QMP) on this project. This individual must have a self-driven and motivated personality and must understand how quality management functions integrate with project planning, procurement and construction activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This role requires working with a team of project managers, superintendents, and engineers to ensure the Contractor is meeting all quality control measures on behalf of our clients. This individual will be expected to:
- Review the Contractor’s processes and verify that all aspects of the project-specific QMPs are met during construction.
- Review quality assurance concerns with management to resolve problems.
- Support project team in executing the work in strict compliance with the contract documents.
- Review contract documents and other project documents for constructability and accuracy.
- Understand, critically analyze, and extract critical quality elements from construction documents in support of developing QMPs.
- Collaborate with project teams to schedule inspections and participating in/leading inspection walks.
- Participate in quality-related project meetings included, but not limited to, pre-installation meetings, preconstruction meetings, kick-off meetings, mock-up review meetings, first-work inspections, subcontractor weekly syncs, specification reviews, owner progress meetings, and others as deemed necessary to provide support and oversight of the QMP and the quality health of the project.
- Lead by example with quality planning and inspection of work in place, support the managing, documenting, and tracking of conformances and non-conformances.
- Interface with the project teams to ensure understanding of and compliance with quality requirements and expectations.
Required Qualifications
The Construction Quality Assurance Coordinator is required to have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management. Equivalent experience can be used to substitute this requirement.
- 2-4 years of experience in the construction industry with bachelor’s degree; 4-7 years of experience in the construction industry without a degree.
- Experience overseeing and/or inspecting construction work, including Supportive Excavation, Foundation, and Sitework. Must understand construction means and methods, work sequencing and field operations experience.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and work as part of a team to achieve goals.
- Understand quality process and protocols, how to develop project-specific written quality plans and can integrate with quality-related technology.
- This individual should be self-motivated, value-driven, and dedicated to personal and organizational development.
- Experience with building exterior system, higher education buildings and/or complex building projects is a plus.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office 365 suite. Must be familiar with or able to be trained on other project-based software including Touchplan, Procore, Autodesk, Bluebeam, and others required for the job.
Physical Requirements
The Construction Quality Assurance Coordinator will be working on a construction jobsite. As such, this individual must be able to:
- Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
- Stand for up to 8 hours per day
- Kneel, squat, and lean over frequently
- Walk through rough terrain while maintaining awareness of their surroundings
- Maintain awareness to avoid the inherent risks that come along with working on a construction jobsite
