South Woods State Prison

Details: This facility, the largest in the New Jersey State Prison system, was the most ambitious public works project ever undertaken by the State at the time of its constuction. Situated on over 84 acres, the 1.3 million SF facility consists of 26 buildings in a self-contained complex including secure housing units, medical, educational, food service, administration, visitation facilities and an industries compound. As a member of the Construction Management team, JBC’s primary responsibilities included the development and maintenance of the 16,000 activity, cost-loaded CPM schedule for this 3000 bed medium security correctional facility. Additionally, JBC provided document control services during construction.

Following construction, JBC provided schedule analysis and litigation support services in defense of a $5 million escalation claim asserted against the State of New Jersey.
