We are pleased to announce that Thomas (Tom) Davis, Jr. has joined JBC Associates Inc. as Senior Vice President, Transportation Services. With an impressive 37 years of experience in the transportation construction services industry, Tom brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our team.
In his new role at JBC, Tom will oversee our transportation construction management and inspection operations, ensuring that our projects align with client expectations and JBC’s performance goals. Additionally, Tom will play a crucial role in business development by strengthening our relationships with existing clients, securing new contracts, and expanding JBC’s market presence in Pennsylvania. He will provide strategic leadership for JBC services across PennDOT Districts 4-0, 5-0, 6-0, and 8-0, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, and other local agencies.
Prior to joining JBC, Tom worked in a similar capacity for a local engineering and construction management firm. His extensive experience and proven track record make him a valuable addition to our team.
Getting to Know Tom
Outside of work, Tom enjoys spending quality time with his wife and daughters. He loves going to the beach, hanging out at the pool, kayaking, attending concerts, going for walks, and watching Notre Dame football and other sports. These activities help him unwind and stay balanced.
Tom also enjoys doing yard work and spending time by the pool or at the beach. One surprising fact about Tom is that he serves as a Communion Minister at his church, reflecting his commitment to his community.
Career Inspirations and Achievements
A significant experience that influenced Tom’s career path was his time as a summer intern at PennDOT during college. He enjoyed being on construction projects and being outdoors, which led him to pursue a career in the roadway construction industry.
Tom credits a former firm supervisor as his biggest inspiration in his career. While working as a construction inspector, Tom approached his supervisor about taking on a more administrative role as a Project Manager. That supervisor took an interest in him and mentored Tom, helping him grow into a successful manager and leader – a lesson not lost on Tom when it comes to mentoring others.
One of Tom’s proudest achievements is his role as construction supervisor for the SR 33 – Lehigh River Bridge project. This $42 million project involved constructing a simple-span approach and a four-span haunch truss structure with a total span of 1,869 feet, standing 180 feet above the Lehigh River, Oberly Island, Lehigh Canal, Canal Towpath, and Norfolk Southern Railroad. The project would cost over $100 million in today’s economy.
