Details: The Renovation and Additions to the Science, Engineering & Innovation Building consisted of four phases of work to Piez Hall. The 1st Phase was the relocation of utilities and site preparations for the building. The 2nd Phase was the construction of a new 150,000 SF building addition to Piez Hall. The 3rd phase was the 79,000 SF renovation to Piez Hall and the 4th phase was the demolition of the 153,000 SF Snygg Hall.
The completed Science, Engineering and Innovation Building includes faculty offices, state-of-the-art classrooms, a research greenhouse, wind power, photovoltaic power, a geothermal well field, and various dry/wet labs. The new facility also includes 13,000 SF of new technology lab construction, 5,000 SF of new atrium construction, and 66,000 SF of renovations to the existing Park and 95,000 SF of renovations to the existing Wilber School of Education Buildings.
As part of the Construction Management team, JBC performed verification of the estimated construction durations for the project involving the 150,000 SF Piez Hall Addition and 79,000 SF Renovation. Verification required development of a detailed schedule for the construction of the Addition and coordinating between the two projects to see how they would impact each other. JBC services continued through construction with the coordination of the construction scheduled by various contractors for the project. JBC’s services included the review of each contractors’ baseline schedule for the projects, review of the contractors’ monthly updates, and assistance in Recovery Scheduling efforts.
