Details: JBC has been providing professional services to PhilaPort as part of the Construction Management team. These projects typically are ones that allow the Port facilities (ie. Berths, Piers, infrastructure, etc.) to continue to maintain their day-to-day operations. JBC services involve document control, schedule review and project closeout. Our duties performed include the review and tracking of submittals, RFI’s, change orders; preparing monthly status reports; attending project meetings and preparing meeting minutes.
Pier 82 South Marine Repairs — JBC provided Construction Management and Document Control services. This project included the improvement of the current condition of the pier through repairs to the existing concrete, repairs to piles and installation of new pier hardware. Construction included excavation of fill to low deck structure, installation of pipe and h-piles to support existing pier structures as well as grout injection into existing sea wall. The exterior of the pier was repaired by installing an armor plate on the outside corner along with new fenders. The pier repairs were completed with new subbase and asphalt paving. Challenges included working directly next to the US United States ship creating low clearance areas and limited swing room for equipment used.

Berths 4 & 5 Sinkhole Repair — JBC provided project management and document control services for this project at the Packer Avenue Marine Terminal (PAMT). This project improved the condition of the terminal through structural improvements as well as resurfacing. It involved repair and waterproofing along the wharf edge to correct sinkholes from occurring. Challenges in completing this work included coordinating shipping schedules in a busy port to allow for divers to complete waterside work.
