Details: JBC Associates, Inc. has been providing Project Controls service to PhilaPort since 2018 on various types of projects. For four years, JBC served as a member of the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Management Team. The $293 million CIP Program provided new facilities, upgraded existing infrastructure and site improvements at Packer Avenue Marine Terminal, Tioga Marine Terminal and AutoPort. JBC provided CPM scheduling services, including development and updating of the Program Schedule, and Project Controls, monitoring and processing construction documents. JBC worked closely with the Program Management team and PhilaPort personnel to update the Program Schedule with real time information. The Program Schedule assisted Project Teams in determining when design projects would be ready for bid and the amount of time needed for award. Additionally, as individual projects neared design completion, JBC developed construction verification schedules to ensure enough time was allotted for construction.
At the Packer Avenue Marine Terminal improvements were made to the berths by rebuilding the existing berth structure at Berths 1 through 5 and preparing these areas for the delivery of four (4) new electric cranes. Additional work at the Packer Avenue Marine Terminal included upgrading the existing electrical infrastructure, installation of new crane rails, electrification of the existing diesel cranes, modifications to an existing warehouse and construction of a new dry warehouse.
At the AutoPort improvements were made to over 150 acres of land to provide suitable storage areas for vehicles imported to the United States through PhilaPort. Site improvements included demolition of existing structures, placement of surcharges and monitoring, installation of storm water infrastructure, site lighting, concrete curbing, and paving. The design and construction of a 108,000 SF Vehicle Processing Center was part of the CIP Program at AutoPort.
At the Tioga Marine Terminal improvements included the construction of a 100,000+ SF dry warehouse structure. This project also included improvements to the existing rail system at the new Warehouse for railroad cars to enter and exit the facility for loading.
